School of Arts and Design at the University of Jordan is a leading example of a comprehensive art Faculty that sprang up in Jordan in 2002. Our programs encompass a wide variety of traditional art forms including Music, Drama, and Visual Art. The Faculty preserves the highest and best of our cultural heritage that tends to be blended with the breadth of practical experience of its teaching staff. Our art programs offer BA degree in Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts, as well as MA in Music Our belief in the necessity of providing a well-educated Artist to the local society.

    Regular Activities of the Institution
  • Graduation Projects Festivals, each department organizes an end of year festival that present the works of school graduates. Audiences from inside and outside the university are welcome.
  • Student Welcoming. An annual festival organized by students for their colleagues, new and existing. It involves various activities. Faculty members supervise.
  • The International Arts Conference. An international conference concerned with the arts, each year there is a different theme. Also there is a visual arts symposium held alongside.

    ITI/UNESCO Network Projects currently involved
  • Arts Therapy Project. Started in 2012 as a few workshops in drama therapy delivered by the School of Arts and Design to the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, to expand to involve both music and art therapies. Currently preparations are being put in place to found an Arts Therapy Centre in the School of Arts and Design. The centre will offer an Arts Therapy Diploma in addition to therapeutic services.
  • Medical simulation. Started off as a voluntary initiative and research project between the School of Medicine and the School of Arts and Design. While medical simulation is part of medical programmes in several countries, it was not used in Jordan nor was it executed as collaboration between two schools making it a pilot in the region. At the moment, this project is being turned into modules added to the study plans of both schools.
